Driving Digital Performance for Triathlon Scotland

Triathlon Scotland has delivered a strong year across social media, combining scale, engagement and smarter content execution to significantly grow its digital presence

Deffo Media’s digital partnership with Triathlon Scotland delivered measurable results, with a data-led content strategy driving sustained growth in reach, engagement and audience development.

Our collaboration began back in 2022 and since then, the focus has been on building a consistent stream of high-quality, platform-specific content. This shift in approach has significantly increased both the volume of output and the scale of visibility achieved across channels. More than 2,000 posts have been published, reflecting a structured and always-on content approach. This activity has generated an impressive 39 million total impressions, with content reaching 9.1 million users and extending well beyond Triathlon Scotland’s existing audience base.

Alongside content output, page and profile activity has played an important supporting role in amplifying visibility and maintaining a strong digital presence. Page and profile interactions alone have driven 10 million impressions and contributed an additional 8.9 million in reach, reinforcing discoverability and helping Triathlon Scotland connect with audiences beyond its core followers.

Crucially, this increase in scale has been matched by improved performance, signalling a clear move towards more engaging and relevant content. Engagement rates have risen to 13.35%, indicating stronger audience interaction across the board, while a number of individual posts have exceeded 40% engagement. These results highlight the impact of well-executed creative and compelling storytelling in capturing audience attention and encouraging meaningful interaction.

A key factor behind this success has been the evolution of content formats, with a clear emphasis on short-form video. Reels have become the primary driver of growth and discovery, delivering an impressive 7.5 million in reach and demonstrating the value of creating dynamic, engaging content tailored to how audiences consume sport across social platforms.

At the same time, content aligned with major sporting moments has consistently delivered standout results. In particular, activity around the Commonwealth Games demonstrated the value of timely, event-led storytelling, with athlete-focused content and real-time updates generating the highest levels of engagement.

This sustained performance has also translated into steady and meaningful audience growth. Triathlon Scotland’s social channels now have a combined following of 24,000, having welcomed 1,500 new fans over the past year. This continued growth reflects increasing interest in the organisation’s content and the momentum being built across its digital community.

Overall, the partnership highlights how Deffo Media is helping organisations move beyond simply reporting on sport. By combining insight, creativity and continuous optimisation, it is enabling Triathlon Scotland to use social media as a strategic tool to expand its reach, strengthen its community and support the wider growth of triathlon in Scotland.
